CJGA Fundraiser

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Well after a day of caddying for Jeanette in the CPGA Women’s Championship here in Toronto, i have some time to update you all on whats been happening. She had a horrible day on the links shooting 81 but just like anything there’s always tomorrow.

Yesterday i had a great time at the 4th Annual CJGA Fundraiser and Pro-Am.  If only other golf organizations in Canada operated like the CJGA.  It was a world class event held at St. Georges Golf Club that had many of Canada’s best Touring and Teaching Professionals attending.  A great start in the morning introducing the professionals with an open mic clinic with each pro discussing something about themselves and the game.  Then it was off to the Pro-Am with a great format that has each pro play 3 holes with a group then another 3 holes with a different group until they are finished.  It gives the ams’ a chance to meet most of the pros and vice versa.  I would like to say thanks to all involved for a wonderful day, Earl Fritz, Richard Zokol, Cameron Weibe and all of the other pros, all the am’s and sponsors of the day.  The CJGA is on the right path in building future PGA Tour Stars.  Enjoy your Day.  Stu

Caddy Time

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Well no such luck at the Open Qualifier today. Shot 70 (-2) with 3 birdies and 1 bogey. 67 would have gotten me into a playoff.  Just one of those days where i didn’t take advantage of the chances i had and hit the ball solid but not close enough. So onward i move to caddying for a good friend James Love. Should be a good time but really starting to miss the girls at home. The new pictures of Coral are great mom. Well no more to update, hope everything is fine with you all. Stu

Canadian Open Week

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Well after another good week on the road, i have really started to miss the family.  I can’t wait to see my daughter Coral in a few weeks.  I am very excited about tomorrows round. I am trying to qualify for the Canadian Open at Royal Ashburn Golf Club here in the Toronto area.  I tee it up at 8:30 with good friend Mike Mezei who was our event winner in Winnipeg and lead Team Canada to victory in Scarboro last week and Chris Ross of the renowned Ross family. (RCGA)  But all in all i do believe the golf course sets up for my game and i am confident i can get one of the four spots of the 156 man field.  I have been fortunate the last couple nights staying at Greg and Marci’s in Toronto and Greg is going to caddying for me in the morning. Well hope to be telling you i qualified in the next post.  Hope all is well with everyone, take care. Stu

Skins of Seaforth

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Well what a day. The weather, course, people and kids all were awesome. Seaforth GC and community came together for a great event.  On behalf of all the players we thank you Seaforth.  Personally i had nine birdies and a bogey for a total of $1750. Davey Walker was the big winner with $2300. Scott Hawley made $500 and last but not least Eugene Smith made $400.  Aside from the money, us players are very proud to be a part of this event and hope there are many more to come.  I think i signed and gave away 19 balls today to the kids and a smooth dozen to my caddy Ali who did a great job.  He might have a chance to play next year i hope he can. I hope an event like this can give a kid an opportunity and dream to follow in the footsteps of us pros who are lucky to be here.  So many thanks to all involved. I feel like i have been adopted into the Doig family. I hope there are many more days like today in my career.  Love you all Stu

Beautiful Seaforth

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Well after a great session at the Taylormade MATT center in Toronto area i made the trip to Seaforth.  I am here playing in the Come to the Country Skins Game, at Seaforth Golf Club.  What a beautiful place and the hospitality has been great.  I arrived about 5:30 yesterday and was greeted with open arms and also got to enjoy 11 holes.  The Doig family have made myself and the other players right at home. Scott Hawley, Eugene Smith David Walker and I are set to tee off at 3pm EST for a purse of $5000.  Along with the opportunity to make some skins today i also played the remaining 7 holes this morning with Canaidian Golf Hall of Famer and good friend Dan Halldorson. What a treat that was.  The Doig family is rich in golf history as well.  Ken Sr. and his wife Mary along with my new autie Shirley are my hosts with their beautiful home overlooking the 12th green and 13th.  Carolanne Doig from Seaforth Successables, the number 1 rain cover on tour is here as well looking after our every need. (with a nice care package as from Seaforth Successables:-) Todd, Cam, and Ken Jr. are all involved in the operations of the course. And what stories i have heard with all of them caddying on the PGA Tour at some point in thier lives.  I am really fortunate that Reegan Price the nephew of all and son of Gail (Doig) Price gave me the invitation to play in this. Thanks Reegan. Not only will the Presidents Cup be here in Seaforth the Come to the Country Classic will be announced for the 2008 Canadian Tour Schedule. Well thats about it, but i just want to thank the whole Doig family and all involved in this event, i can’t wait till i tee in up in 90 minutes.  Stu
