Defending the Tour Championship

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Well just would like to forget about last week. Shot 74 +4 the first round and four holes into the second round i hit it into some long grass and tall weeds in a hazard, not taken a drop i decided to play it.  What a mistake that was.  At impact i had to let go of the club because i couldn’t swing it through the grass.  My right wrist had some enormous pain for a good solid minute and got more swollen in the next few holes.  After birdying the ninth hole to get to +6 for the first 27 my wrist was really tightening up, so i decided to rest it rather than try to make the weekend, know it was probably going to be +2.  So i have had a great rest this weekend and am fired up about next week.  Crystol and Coral get in on tuesday afternoon, i am defending my championship i won last year and i am excited to play.  Well hope everything is good with everybody and we’ll talk to ya later this week.  Stu

-10 for 10th

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Well Montreal has come to a close. Pretty encouraged on the way i played all week, just a couple mental errors and mistakes but all in all i’ll take it. I am now currently in Ottawa playing in Lee Curry’s pro-am at Rideau Veiw GC. Should be a great time did it last year, the golf course is fun and the format is great.  Next up on the Canadian Tour is the Jane Rodgers Memorial in Missisauga, Ont. at the historic Lakeview Golf Club. Cheers Stu

68 in the Wind

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

Well it was a bogey free 68 -4 in very windy conditions today.  Been striking the ball well all week, hopefully i can put another one together tomorrow, make a few more putts and climb the leaderboard some more. I am currently 10th and hope to finish in the top 5. Thats about it for now hope you all are doing well. Stu

Putting Woes

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Today was one of my best rounds of ball striking all year. I think the swing changes i have been working on paid off the last two days. Barring a bad bounce on the par 4 14th making bogey and a misclub on 18th costing me a double bogey, i finished even today 72.  Putting me at -4 total for two rounds.  I probably miss 7 putts inside ten feet today for birdies. So i am very excited about the upcoming weekend.  If a few more putts fall and the 2 strokes penalty yesterday, i would be right at the top of the leaderboard.  So thats about it for now hope everyone out there is doing great and keep your comments coming. If there is any ideas or questions you want to talk about feel free to start a new post.  Take Care Stu

Not Bad

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

After a punishing 2 shot penalty on the first hole of the day, i ended up with a -4 (68) good enough for T11th.  Before i played my second shot in the fairway bunker of hole #10 my first hole, my caddy raked the bunker. A rake was in the bunker near where my ball had landed and he decided to get the rake and rake up where my ball made a depression in the sand. Nobody was around but i saw it so it was my responsibility to call myself on it.  After a bogey on the third hitting it in the water, i was +3 after 3. Then i made 8 birdies and one bogey on the next 15 holes highlighted by a five in a row stretch birdying #’s 4,5,6,7,8 on my back nine shooting 31. Well need to keep it going for the next 3 days. Chat with ya tomorrow. Stu

#12

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Well here i am in Montreal it is Wednesday the night before the 12th tournament of the year. Just finished a great day on the golf course with one of the best hockey players that ever played the game, #12 Yvan Cournoyer. Cournoyer played for the Montral Canadiens from 1963 to ‘79, scoring 428 goals and 435 assists in 968 games. Perhaps the finest moment in his career came in the playoffs in 1973, where he scored 15 goals in 17 games and was the recipient of the Conn Smythe Trophy, which is awarded to the M.V.P. of the N.H.L.’s playoffs at their conclusion. Cournoyer played in six All-Star Games and was on ten Stanley Cup winning teams. He scored three goals as a member of Team Canada during the 1972 Summit Series, including the game winning goal in game two and the game tying goal in game eight. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982.

I must say he not only was a great hockey player he is a great man, and his golf is pretty good.  We as a team with other members Michel and Louis finished the day at -8 (64). Just missing the prizes, i think the fun we had today made up for that. Also Yvan was kind enough to show me a shortcut way to where i am staying and pay for the ferry we took.  So thanks RoadRunner for the great day, keep in touch.

Again i want to wish my Sister Jeanette the best of luck in the Canadian Womens Open starting tomorrow in Edmonton. I know you have it in ya sis. Love Ya

Well better go now,  gotta rip it up at Saint Raphael GCC in the Montreal Open the next four days.  Scores should be fairly low barring any weather.  Thanks for the support.  Stu

Montreal

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Hello all. Well back on the road again. Got into Montreal last night via Victoria and Vancouver.  Spent a great couple days in Vancouver with my adopted family, Glen and Sharri Agnew. Played some golf up at Swan-e-Set with the boys Big Dave and Jon. Then it was off to Victoria to visit with Crystol and the girls as well show her dad how to play the game RISK.  Baby Coral is growing up so fast, she is so darn cute and she loves her daddy. Also played golf up at a favorite Bear Mountain GCC. After the great visits with everybody espesially the family in Victoria, i am ready to get back at it on the links.

Played in the Jean Coutu pro-am this afternoon at the Saint Raphael GC.  It is a fair course with small greens and very long par three’s. Overall it was a good day and i am excited about the week.  Well better get to bed gotta another pro-am in the morning.

Oh ya. I wanna wish my sister the best of luck at the Canadian Women’s Open at Royal Mayfair GCC in Edmonton.  GO Hard SIS!!

Take care all and talk with ya soon.  Stu
