Wake up Call

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Well the first one is in the books.  74-72 = +2  It was a great experience.  The opening hole of the tournament was the best hole of the week, after hitting it in the trees left on the par 5 tenth i hit this remarkable hooking rescue under a few trees that rolled up to the front edge where i was able to two putt for a birdie.  Then a wrong club decision on the second hole number eleven to a short sided bunker shot and i was back to even.  Then bad ball striking caught up to me an i ended up shooting a 41  +5 on the front side.  After putting away the driver, using a three wood on the back nine i shot a nice 33 -3.  Just to many bogeys.  Today was a better ball stricking day, i just didn’t take advantage of the many birdie opportunities i had.  So after a 37 +1 on the front, i shot 35 -1 on the back.  A total of 10 bogeys and eight birdies on the week. So looking at the leaderboard right now, i won’t be playing on the weekend.  A wake up call. So i’ll prepare and get ready for Brookside CC next week.  Hope you all have a great weekend and we’ll talk to ya soon.  Stu

Big Break a Maybe

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Well i am sitting here in Richmond, Virginia at the airport catching a flight back to San Fransico. My sister Jeanette and i did a video audition for the Big Break X, a team competition with one male and one female.  I thought it would be a great experience for the both of us and a tribute to our family considering all of the time, support and effort they have contributed to our careers.  So now there is a waiting game untill the middle of May sometime when they inform us if we will be on the show or not.  The experience Jeanette and i had even the last two days has been great.  As we get older and our families get older it is very nice to have these experiences with her.  So i really hope we get on the show and showcase our talents to the world.

As for me i am heading back to the site of my first Canadian Tour Championship in Modesto, California at Del Rio CC.  With the Big Break trip it has put a little dent in my scheduling to defend my title there but i look forward to the opportunity.  I played one practice round last week so hopefully that will be enough. The course suits my game very well being and old traditional style with fairways bordered with trees and firm fast greens. I got a pretty good pairing at 12:45 on Thursday with my good buddies Mike Mezei of Lethbridge, AB and James Lepp of Abbotsford, BC an all canadian group eh!  So tune in Thursday evening to hear about my first round.

Keep them comments coming, and Great Golfing!

Thanks for the Support

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Hello all, sorry for the delay on a new post but i have been busy and really working on my game for the upcoming season.

First of all i wanna thank a lot of people for their continued support of my career, and these are in no particular order.

Don Copeland of Upperlake Oil and Gas Ltd. in Calgary/Victoria.  His partner Kelly Ogle along with Don has been very generous helping in some way or another since 2001.  Laurie Guthrie of Guthrie Mechanical in Fort McMurray has been a great sponsor since 2001 as well, his support of a vehicle and gas card has gotten me to numerous locations across North America.  Marion Ellis formerly of Uniglobe Travel has not only helped financially, she has gotten me to a lot of tournaments through her travel deals and knowledge.  Paul and Ariane Jensen of  Big Valley have given me the opportunity to go to PGA Tour Qualifying school 3 of the last 4 years, which is very important. Along with Q-school they have helped financially and also have given me airline tickets.  As well, the opportunity of moving my family Crystol, Trinidy, and Coral to Big Valley with a house and Crystol a job.

The previously mentioned peole have stuck by my side for the past 7 years of my career.  Let’s hope the PGA Tour is in the near future.  But i can’t exclude previous sponsors that also made a contribution to my career.

Murray Quinton of Viking, Alberta was a big finacial help in the early years of my career unfortunately we have lost touch of late but thank you Murray your generousity has not gone to waste.  Gary Fizzel of CBS Construction in Fort McMurray also made a financial help towards my early years.

Along with the Financial help i have recieved over the last seven years, i am a richer person because of the people i have stayed with as billets and host families and my great caddies  ( You know who i’m talking about guys).  In reality you saved me money which could be spent for expenses.  But the Relationships i have made with you all have been priceless.

Last but not least i want to thank my whole immediate family because in some shape or form they have helped financially.  From my cousins, aunts and uncles to my grandparents and mom, dad and sis…. you have all been there and driven me to succeed.

So lets have the best year yet. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!!!    Stu

PS: The Road to the PGA Tour is a costly one so if there are any individuals or companies that would like to help me acommplish my goal please feel free to contact me.
